GINI SAVAGE, co-founder
and director of the Yoga Center of Marin, has practiced yoga for 44 years
and taught it for the past 31. She is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher
and has studied many times with Mr. Iyengar in India, England and California.
She also practices massage therapy. Gini’s classes emphasize individual
instruction and the restorative aspects of yoga.

SUZANNE KANNER is
a popular Marin County yoga teacher with 25 years of teaching experience.
She is the co-founder and director of the Yoga Center of Marin, established
in 1986. An Intermediate Level certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, she has
studied several times in India with the Iyengars, as well as with many
senior teachers in the US and Europe, including Ramanand Patel, Manouso
Manos, Patricia Walden, Gabriella Giubilaro, Judith Laster, and Kofi
Busia. Suzanne’s teaching is precise and inspiring, challenging,
yet nurturing. Under her guidance students deepen and expand their yoga
practice, learning to restore, and rejuvenate body, mind, and spirit.
Besides teaching regular classes, Suzanne specializes in therapeutic
and prenatal yoga.

CLAIRE COLVIN is
a certified Iyengar yoga teacher who has studied Iyengar yoga for over
30 years, at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in San Francisco and 4 times
in India with the Iyengar family. She has taught yoga in Marin County
for 21 years. Her principal teacher is Manouso Manos. |
KATHY-ANN
DeLUCIA is a
graduate of the Advanced Studies/Teacher Training program at the Iyengar
Yoga institute of San Francisco. She has been teaching for the past
five years focusing on elders and those new to Yoga. Her Yoga practice
has assisted her in working through past injuries. In living the
philosophy, she believes that Yoga is available to all as a life
practice to teach about one’s self and our connection with each other. |

BARBARA FABBRI,
a certified Iyengar yoga teacher, has recently moved to the Bay Area
from Sicily, Italy where she started a flourishing Iyengar Yoga community.
Barbara’s
most influential teachers have been Gabriella Giubilaro with whom she
became a close student and assistant, and Patricia Walden. She has been
deeply inspired by the teachings of BKS Iyengar, Geeta and Prashant during
her visits to Pune, India. She is a dynamic teacher who challenges her
students to discover the intelligence of their own body. In every class
her goal is clarity, simplicity and joyfulness.

JAMES
HIGGINS interweaves his exploration of Vipassana Meditation and
core aspects of the Ashtanga, Iyengar, Anusara and Yin Yoga systems.
Creative,
integrated and mindful Asana sequences increase strength, balance,
and
well-being for every level of practitioner. His yoga classes are a
multi-dimensional transformational experience. A safe space for the
healing
of body, mind and spirit is provided with the intention that each
student
connects deeply to the truth within their heart and the wisdom within
their
soul.

JUDITH
LASATER has taught yoga since 1971. She holds a doctorate in East-West
psychology and is a physical therapist. She teaches yoga classes and
trains yoga teachers in the San Francisco Bay area, the U.S. and Europe.
In addition to being a regular contributor to the Yoga Journal,
she has written three books on yoga, Relax and Renew: Restful Yoga
for Stressful Times and Living Your Yoga, which address
the therapeutic and philosophic aspects of yoga; and 30 Essential
Yoga Poses: For Beginning Students and Their Teachers. (8/07)

ROGELIO
NUNEZ is a practitioner and consultant in the healing arts and
brings a broad range of education and experience to his work in preventive
health care. At Queens College, New York, he studied exercise physiology
and fitness training and was a competitive athlete. While in the corporate
world, a healing crisis led him to study and practice Oriental Healing
arts and Hatha Yoga. We are very happy to welcome Rogelio, who currently
teaches in San Francisco and assists Manouso Manos, notable Iyengar
yoga teacher.

ALICE
ROCKY has been teaching and practicing yoga for the past 29
years. Her approach to teaching yoga is influenced by her extensive dance
background. She is a longtime member of the faculty of the College of
Marin, where she teaches yoga and movement classes. Her primary teacher
is Manouso Manos.
DAVID
SCHAMLE has been exploring Hatha Yoga since 1974. He has studied
Zen and taught at the Kanzeon Zen Yoga Center. David is an Alexander
Technique practitioner, and he incorporates this technique in his teaching.
LAYLA
SMITH (Gyokujun Teishin) is a Zen priest in lineage of Shunryu
Suzuki-roshi.

SUSY STEWART began her study
of yoga more than 23 years ago. Her yoga practice has been fueled by several
trips to India where she studied with the Iyengars and followers of Sri
Aurobindo. Her principal teachers are Ramanand Patel and Manouso Manos.
Mature yoga students and beginners alike will benefit from her holistic
perspective, sensitivity and experience. |

JESSE WHITE is
a recent graduate of the two-year Teacher Training Program at IYISF.
Jesse’s classes are designed to challenge each student while building
confidence and facilitating a sense of exploration in their practice.
He balances strength and flexibility with a strong emphasis on safety
and proper alignment. Principal teachers are Manouso Manos, Kofi Busia
and Joe Naudzunas.

KAREN
YOGER has been teaching yoga since 1990 and is certified by
the Iyengar Institute of San Francisco. Along with traditional postures,
Karens focus is on the healing and restorative aspects of yoga.
She helps her students to discover flexibility, endurance, stress relief
and deep relaxation.
