Pain
CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED to allow for very individual attention.
STOMACH & PELVIC FLOOR
THIS WORKSHOP OFFERS basic anatomical understanding of the stomach
and pelvic floor. The stomach muscles support and contain the abdominal
viscera and function mainly as support, not locomotion. These muscles
are important for both men and women, but in different ways. For men,
they affect the functioning of the prostate and erections. For women,
pregnancy, fluctuations in hormones or weight play havoc on them. We
will explore different ways in which to connect with the pelvic floor
muscles, working with the stomach muscles to get a clearer understanding
of how they are basically stabilizers. During asana practice, we will
experience how the action of the pelvic floor can enhance and support
each posture. Booklet supplied.
This class is for students of all levels and will benefit beginners
as well as more advanced practitioners. Each week a sequence of poses
for a different condition will be given: for example, sequences for
lower back, headache, asthma, heart problems, and depression. Whether
you suffer from the specific condition or not the sequences are beneficial
to all, as they all work on bringing balance and health to the body,
mind, and spirit. If you have a specific condition you would like to
discuss with the teacher please feel free to call ahead at (415) 927-1850.
Cost: $65 for 4-week month; $120 for 8 classes/month or $20/drop-in

Yoga and Mindfulness for Strength, Stress Reduction, and Self-Esteem
This intensive workshop is designed to target the issues of stress, academic and peer pressure, body image and self esteem of the average American pre-teen girl.
